God encourages “time out”.
My wife and I prayed this morning and we felt that we needed a break from our strenuous
spiritual duties.
As it turned out, yesterday, we stopped paddling and churning our little spiritual kayaks. We were tired. We drifted. We felt lost. She hurt; I felt nervous. But when all was done we discovered that yesterday we were still in the boundless ocean of God. Rest is also God’s work. “Time out” is not “time away” it is still “time in”. I love the Sovereign today as much I did yesterday when my sore hands dropped the paddle.
Sometimes I am fearful of dropping God when the truth is that I have never carried Him anyway. It has always been the other way around.
