Groundbreaking Celebrates Project to Enhance Assisted Living, Skilled Nursing Services in Johnson City

Groundbreaking Celebrates Multi-Million Dollar Project

Johnson City, Tn., July 19, 2017 – Local leaders and executives of Signature HealthCARE and Mountain States Health Alliance picked up shovels on Wednesday to celebrate the groundbreaking of Princeton Transitional Care and Assisted Living Facility. The project will revive the dormant land and add 100 jobs to the Tri-Cities area.

Construction for the new, state-of-the-art Princeton Transitional Care & Assisted Living has officially begun.

“We are thrilled to partner with Mountain States Health Alliance on a project that will provide much needed services in a beautiful, state-of-art facility on a campus setting.”  George Burkley, Chief Strategy Officer for Signature HealthCARE, said.  “The services and options that will be provided will meet a vital need and we believe be a terrific addition to the community.”

The facility will provide a new home for the skilled nursing services of Princeton Transitional Care, and will also add 60 assisted living apartments, featuring a streetscape with a chapel and theatre, library and media center, market place, java bar, ice cream & bistro, billiard parlor, country store, pharmacy, and an on-site physician office.

“Princeton Transitional Care has a history of excellence in skilled nursing care,” said Grace Pereira, vice president of outpatient and post-acute care services for Mountain States. “With the addition of assisted living in this new facility, we will be able to provide a more comprehensive continuum of services to our region with the same quality and caring atmosphere people have come to know and trust.”

“We already serve several communities in Northeast Tennessee, and to add our expertise in post-acute care to the Johnson City community is an honor,” Joe Steier, President and CEO of Signature HealthCARE, said.

“Our senior population deserves to age with dignity and to have the support they need to continue thriving in our community,” said Alan Levine, president and CEO of Mountain States. “This investment by Mountain States Health Alliance and Signature HealthCARE is designed to meet the important needs of our beloved seniors.”

The new one-story, 73,000-square-foot facility will be located on Princeton Road on the site of the former North Side Hospital. It will be jointly owned by Signature HealthCARE and Mountain States Health Alliance and is slated to open in late 2018. Reservations for the assisted living facility will become available in the spring of 2018.
