Give Me This Mountain

Give Me This Mountain

“Now therefore, give me this mountain of which the LORD spoke in that day… It may be that the LORD will be with me, and I shall be able to drive them out as the LORD said” Joshua 14:12 (NKJV).
How I love this spirit of conquest! Caleb is 85 years old, an age when most want a vine-covered cottage in Paradise Valley with a Cracker Barrel chair on the porch, yet he understands God’s promise does not contain an expiration date! He also understands the Power of the Ask.
He says, “Joshua, I remember God said to me 45 years ago this inheritance would be mine. I’m hale and hearty; the fire still burns in my soul. I know there are mountains. I know the enemy is in walled cities and they are giants. I’m not denying reality, but I’m affirming God’s power. Therefore, give me this mountain.”
I see some mountains on my horizon: a State Survey, an increase in Census and a disruptive renovation are in my line of sight. Other mountains I do not yet see lie just around the bend. I am asking Jehovah is Salvation for conquest in these, and other endeavors.
A myriad of mountains require scaling: positive clinical outcomes, embodying the Sacred Six, and issues of atmosphere, engagement and empowerment – to name a few. What mountains lie before you?
God, all power, all strength, all knowledge, all wisdom and all glory reside in You! We confess we inherently do not possess what it takes to achieve victory. That’s why we ask You for the victory You already have provided. We climb those mountains, scale those walls and face those giants holding on to the blessed assurance You go before us to make our way prosperous and grant us good success (cf. Joshua 1:8). We ask this in Your Great Name.
