We Are Healed
“But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.”
Isaiah 53:5 (NIV)
Did you ever play dress-up as a child? Maybe you had a super hero costume or a princess dress that immediately transformed your thoughts and actions into character as soon as you slipped it over your body. During those few moments of pretend play your identity was concealed and you obtained a super power and or a beauty unimaginable.
In the next few days leading up to Easter, I want you to take off your shoes and place your feet into Jesus’ sandals. I want you to remove your hat and place HIS crown of thorns upon your head. Whatever path you are headed down this week, I want you to feel the weight of the cross on your back as you take every step. Every time you shower or wash your hands, I want you to imagine HIS blood dripping from your own body and nail scarred hands and feet.
Help us remember. Let us never forget why God sent you to Earth to walk with man. Show us daily what it was like to walk in your sandals of ministry, and on the day of your crucifixion, burial, and resurrection. May we never take your death for granted or in vain. Amen.
We don’t have to pretend play any longer. This scene can be our everyday reality if we’d all just learn to act on it daily.
Humbly in HIM,
