Follow the Shepherd

“My sheep know my voice . . . And they follow me.”  John 10:27

Growing up, if someone told me my mother wanted me to do something, I would have a pretty good idea whether they were telling the truth or not.  She would never ask me to hurt someone, to lie, cheat, or steal.  This was because I knew my mother so well.  I had spent so much quality time with her that I knew her character – I knew what she was like, and thus what she would want me to do.

Likewise, the more I know of God, the better I will become at knowing what He does and does not want me to do.  I will become better able to follow His guidance and instructions for me.  The more focused I am at getting into His Word, the more time I spend in personal communion with Him, and the more I fellowship with others who do the same, the better I become at discerning His will for my life (yearly, daily, hourly, minute by minute).

Prayer: Lord, help me learn more of your teachings and character so I can become more confident in following you.
